In many organizations that we know about, one of the main progresses that we notice is the concentration of the company in creating and sharing solutions to reimagine the humanity’s digital future in an equitable way.
In this way, the technology has always developed a very relevant role in the generation of positive impact, not only for companies, but for society in general.
For this reason, it is clear that this is a delivery that is strongly connected to the role that the technology area provides to society. Because it is not enough to innovate and promote tools that benefit their internal and external clients, it is necessary to look at the chain as a whole and at the impacts that happen that are, many times, the consequence of how the technology that has been available is being used.
That is why in the companies, the Information Technology (IT) has, in its DNA, a proposal aimed at changing. This focus on development, at the same time that puts these professionals into a pioneer path, also proposes an urgency on prioritizing the advancements in many scenes within the context of environmental and social impact.
Because of it, obviously, that the IT has a strategical role on the development of actions. The IT teams must participate on the alignment of the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) metrics. Besides the technical aspects of the sector, the emergent technologies represent disruptive solutions for a more sustainable business development. Technologies like artificial intelligence, IoT, virtual reality, business intelligence and the acquisition model as a service are some of the tendencies that are in accordance with the ESG practices.
This is why the innovation walk hand in hand with the evolution of thinking about the issues addressed by ESG.
Working on its social pilar, the company permits more voice diversity, bring a different eye on many issues that impact business. Yet the environmental focus demands that the organization review processes and practices, promoting the search for new solutions and ideas. The corporative governance promotes an alignment among the different internal groups, creating a favorable environment for innovation.
Finally, there are actions of digital inclusion and promotion of technological innovations that, turned into community, are a perfect alliance between the digital development and the generation of value and positive social impact.
In a society that robots and computers will not only substitute our workforce, but also, act in intellectual fields and on knowledge construction, it is important to maintain the connection and the coexistence between the machine and the human being.
And the way to do that is returning to put the individual in the middle of everything, valuing and developing what only humanity is capable of building. That is why the IT Manager has a strategical aspect extremely important on this new alignment. He/She possesses all the abilities to take the company into a new format and the technology is the way to return this valorization, creating solutions that promote a gain for all, not hitting or impacting the planet.
However, it is necessary to deeper much more the ESG concept, planning and acting in an effective way on the three pillars that form the sign that is in vogue nowadays.
So, I believe even more that the ESG agenda (Environmental, Social and Governance) must be prioritized by all the market, but with special attention on the areas of technology – a demonstration that we recognize and honor our commitment with the social transformation in a wide and sustainable way.
